Water and Steam Chemistry DivisionÂ
Bhabha Atomic Research Centre
The Bhabha Atomic Research Centre is a premier multi-disciplinary nuclear research institution under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), India, furthering energy, food and water security. Water & Steam Chemistry Division, Chemistry Group is a multi-disciplinary division supporting nuclear power programme by undertaking R&D in the fields of chemistry and biology in connection with the primary heat transport system, as well as the secondary and tertiary cooling water systems of nuclear power plants. The major R&D activities include water chemistry, chemical decontamination, special sorbents for waste management, corrosion, cooling water treatment, biofilms, biofouling control and biofilm-based biotechnologies for environmental protection. Major field-deployment outcomes from the division include decontamination campaigns and biofouling mitigation formulations for trouble-free operation of power plants.
Society for Biofilm, Microbiome and Water Research
The conference is organized in association with Society for Biofilms, Microbiome and Water Research [SBMR] instituted at WSCD, BARC, Kalpakkam and registered in 2025. The objectives of the society are to promote biofilms, microbiome and water research, foster interactions between academia and industry, develop research community database working on power plant chemistry and biology within the country, contribute to improving healthcare, environmental protection and sustainability, and disseminate knowledge through impactful conferences, workshops, lectures and related outreach programs.
